Alternate U.S. Consumer Price Inflation as of Sep-12

Here's the most recent alternate U.S. Consumer Price Inflation (CPI) figures as calculated by Jon Williams at Shadowstats.com. He calculates the alternate figures presented alongside the official rate in the chart below based on the methodologies in use prior to 1980 as the government keeps changing the methodology. As of September 2012 the stats show that current consumer price inflation runs at just under 10% compared to the 2% or so "official" inflation rate as measured by the CPI.
