Fed's Balance Sheet closing in on $3,000,000,000,000

The Fed's balance sheet expanded $57.448 billion during the last week and total assets are now $2.918788 trillion recent figures released by FRED show. The majority of the increase came from purchases of mortgage-backed securities ($45.155 billion) and purchases of treasury securities ($7.214 billion). Mortgage-backed securities now make up 31.8% of the Fed's total assets. That's QE Infinity for you.
