Exports Increase on Last Year for the 37th Consecutive Week: Norwegian Farmed Salmon Exports Weekly (week 6 2013)


Statistics Norway reported an export of 14,116 metric tonnes of fresh/chilled and frozen farmed salmon from Norwegian salmon farmers in week 6, 2013. On a rolling average four week basis volume in tonnes exported increased 4.5% (639 tonnes) on the same period last year.

The weighted average price per kilo for the week was NOK 34.79 and was up 33.6% YoY on a rolling average four week basis.

The value of exports for the week was NOK 491.040 million, an increase of 39.6% (NOK 147.471 million) on last year on a rolling average four week basis.

Tonnes exported increased again on last year, albeit at a slower pace than last week. Prices for the week increased for the 17th week in a row on last year with the YoY percentage increase (rolling four week average) for the week being the 3rd in a row with an increase of more than 30%. The total value of exports continued to increase on last year, driven again by especially the increase in price, and represented the 37th week in a row with an increase on last year (on a rolling four week basis). The YoY percentage increase in the value of exports for the week (rolling four week average) was the 3rd in a row with an increase of more than 39%.
