St. Louis Financial Stress Index hits Lowest Level since July 2007

The St. Louis Financial Stress Index closed on -0.586 for the week ending 15 February. This was the lowest  value reported since week ending 27 July 2007 and indicates that the financial stress in the U.S. economy is now the lowest it has been for more than 5.5 years.

A warning though: this does not signal that the financial stress in the coming months will be low. In fact, the last time the figure was this low the S&P 500 index was very close to hitting its peak. Let that be a warning.
