Revised Numbers: Euro Area Unemployment for May was a Record High 12.2 %

Eurostat initially reported an unemployment rate of 12.1 %, but the numbers turned out to include an error in the French unemployment figures,
This News Release, published on 1 July 2013, has been revised, following the correction of an error in the loading of the French data. The French unemployment rate for May 2013 is revised upwards by 0.5 percentage points. This correction results in an upwards revision of 0.1 pp in the EA17 and EU27 unemployment rates, while the trend is not affected.
This was the highest unemployment rate ever recorded since the introduction of the euro.
