Up, Up, Up We Go - U.S. Monetary Base Closing in on $3,000,000,000,000

The U.S. Monetary Base (not seasonally adjusted) hit $2.9857 trillion on Wednesday according to figures released yesterday by FRED.

Since 10 September 2008, just prior to collapse of Lehman Brothers, the base has increased by more than $2.1 trillion, or 241%.

In 2013 alone, the base has increased $294.7 billion, or 11%. At this speed the base will certainly hit $3 trillion when the next figures are released in two weeks.
